The WRMT is a multi-university cooperative study that will address some of the fundamental water resource issues facing the border region. It is a joint proposal of the University of Houston, Rice University, Texas A&M - Kingsville, Texas A&M International University, and the University of Texas - Brownsville. The objective of this ATP consortium is to develop a multi-purpose water management decision support tool for the border region, extending from Laredo to Brownsville including the Laguna Madre/Port Mansfield coastal zone. The primary goal is to create a simulation environment that can be used by regional, state, or local agencies, and public and private enterprise to analyze water resource issues and develop management strategies for the Rio Grande.
